Beginning Oct. 28, audiences can experience James Hood's planetarium music show Mesmerica 360 at the Ruth Patrick Science Education Center's DuPont Planetarium on the University of South Carolina Aiken campus. The show will run on select dates through Nov. 18.
Delivered in stunning 360° to create a unique immersive experience, the show is designed to promote deep relaxation in audiences, weaving together musical soundscapes with visually hypnotic animated 3D art curated from artists around the world.
With over 500,000 tickets sold worldwide, the show has broken box office records in over 40 North American cities — the fastest selling planetarium music show in history.

"In keeping with our mission to inspire the future to effect systemic change in science, mathematics, technology, and environmental education – we're proud to offer programming with the potential to do just that."
The inspiration of award-winning musician and composer James Hood, the show was nominated for the Producers Guild of America's first ever Innovation award in 2020 and in the same year, winner of the c3: Future Vision Award from the Center of Conscious Creativity which recognizes an artist's contribution to a better future through arts and media.
"The power of immersive music and art is like no other art form, it has the ability to create unique moods and brain states, and we're so thrilled and honored to be able to showcase this full-dome presentation in such wonderful venues," Hood said.
The Ruth Patrick Science Education Center is a cooperative effort between USC Aiken, business, industry, the South Carolina Department of Education, and schools in the Central Savannah River Area of South Carolina and Georgia.
The center's hands-on approach to teaching is designed to help people experience the beauty, order, and power of science and mathematics, as well as the interest and fun of discovery.
