University of South Carolina Aiken connects students with potential employers during Meet the Firms

Wednesday, September 20, 2023, marked a significant day for USC Aiken students as they gathered in the Student Activities Center on campus for the annual Meet the Firms event. Hosted by Beta Alpha Psi, a prestigious international honors organization for financial information students and professionals, this event offered students a unique opportunity to interact with representatives from some of the region's leading companies, including ADP, Josue Garcia, CPA, LLC, McGregor & Company, Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, and SME CPAs.

Meet the Firms is an annual fixture at USC Aiken since 2017, and for good reason. It acts as a bridge, connecting students with local potential employers and recruiters to learn about internships and employment opportunities in the accounting field.

From a local and regional public accounting firms to a global leader in human resources and payroll services and a Department of Energy operation, Meet the Firms showed students that all kinds of businesses need accounting and finance professionals. Each company had the opportunity to provide students with valuable insights into the accounting profession and the skills required to excel in the field. Additionally, students were able to talk with the company representatives about the significance of building relationships and trust in accounting careers, whether they become a CPA or not.

Additionally, students had the opportunity to converse with representatives, ask questions, and gain valuable insights into the job market. They learned about internship opportunities, career trajectories, and the skills needed to thrive in their chosen fields.

Meet the Firms at USC Aiken serves as a significant steppingstone for students' future careers. It not only provides a glimpse into the corporate world but also helps students make informed decisions about their professional paths. The event's success is a testament to the dedication of both the School of Business Administration and the participating companies in preparing the next generation of professionals. With firms beginning to fill internship positions in the fall in preparation for tax season, students attending the event now have a competitive advantage over their peers to gain real-world experience.
