Beta Alpha Psi Hosts Successful Resume and Interview Prep Workshop

Beta Alpha Psi, in collaboration with the University of South Carolina Aiken School of Business Administration, hosted a Resume and Interview Prep Workshop on Sept. 6. The event featured prominent industry professionals and career experts who provided invaluable insights to aspiring students. The workshop aimed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in their professional journey.

The event boasted an esteemed lineup of speakers, including Professor John Engel, Director of Career Readiness for the USC Aiken School of Business Administration; Regina Alexander, CPA, HR Recruiter from SME CPA; Tabitha Hollimon of Hollimon Strategic Advisors; Brittany Baer from SRNS; Kedesha McClary from SRNS; Josue Garcia, CPA, from Josue Garcia, CPA, LLC; and Corey Feraldi from USC Aiken Career Services.

The workshop covered many critical topics, including resume writing, interview tips, appropriate professional attire, and speed mock interviews. Students had the opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge and practical advice from industry professionals with years of experience.

Engel emphasized the significance of internships in bridging the gap between college life and the professional world, providing students with valuable hands-on experience and networking opportunities. Feraldi delved into the extensive resources offered by Career Services, such as the job platform Handshake, resume and cover letter writing assistance, interview preparation (including mock interviews through Career Services and the online platform Big Interview), guidance on internships, job searches, graduate school applications, and optimizing LinkedIn profiles.

Panelists shared their experiences and offered valuable advice on navigating the transition to a professional career. Their insights into the industry and practical tips were well-received by the attendees.

"Take advantage of all the little things [USCA] has to offer like the resume workshops and internships," stated Garcia. To follow up on that, Baer said, "Be involved in student organizations and be a leader in those organizations because that's what stands out to potential employers. Participate!"

In addition to the panel discussions, the workshop featured speed mock interviews, offering students a chance to practice and refine their interview skills in a supportive environment.
