Carmen Williams named Director of Alumni Relations at USC Aiken

The University of South Carolina Aiken is pleased to announce the appointment of Carmen Williams as Director of Alumni Relations effective Aug.16. Williams will lead the strategic direction and operations of the Alumni Affairs Office. She will also oversee strategic major events and fundraising efforts to help engage alumni.

Williams, who has held progressively responsible positions at the university for 13 years, including her most recent position as executive assistant to the chancellor, said, "I feel like I've been all around campus and this position was just a perfect next step for me. I'm very interested in connecting with alumni and working with Advancement on raising funds in support of the university."

Williams' previous experience also includes roles in the university's Alumni Relations and Gift Processing Office, and the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences.

When asked what it has been like working in the Chancellor's Office, Williams said it has been rewarding and is grateful for the role she played in assisting Chancellor Heimmermann with his introduction and transition to campus.

Once she assumes her new role, Williams plans to poll alumni about their interests.

Williams lives in Graniteville with her husband, Ray, and four daughters.

An alumna of USC Aiken, Williams graduated in December of 2010 with a bachelor's degree in sociology and received her MBA from the American Military University. She is also a graduate of the 2022-23 class of Leadership Aiken County.
